Automating your backup process eliminates the aggravation of scheduling staff after hours to complete backups and guarantees you have a valid backup of your business-critical information.

 

Security

Your data is encrypted using the strongest commercially available algorithm so that it cannot be viewed during transmission to the IDEXX VetVault® servers. While stored, the data is further protected by a state-of-the-art encryption methodology that locks the data, rendering it inaccessible to unauthorised users.

The VetVault Backup Solution ensures your data is kept off-site in a secured facility so that if data is ever damaged or lost, it can be easily restored back to your clinic either online using the Internet or offline by overnight shipment of a restore device.

How much storage space do you need?

 

Your first step is to determine the amount of data you have to back up. The IDEXX VetVault® Analyser is an easy-to-use tool that estimates the total amount of data you should back up when using the IDEXX VetVault® Backup Solution. This tool quickly scans your IDEXX Cornerstone® server to calculate how much storage space will be required to back up your business-essential data. With this storage estimate, your sales representative can provide you with a quote on the monthly cost associated with using the VetVault Backup Solution service.

How to download, install and run the VetVault Analyzer:

  1. Log in to the IDEXX Cornerstone® server as the Administrator.
  2. Download the IDEXX VetVault Analyzer Installation application.
  3. If prompted by your Internet browser, select Run to begin the installation immediately following the application download.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to complete the installation process.
  5. On your Desktop, double-click the IDEXX.VetVault.Analyzer icon to begin the analysis.
  6. Contact an Integrated Practice consultant on 1300 44 33 99 option 2, option1 to receive a quote for the monthly cost of using the IDEXX VetVault Backup Solution.

How the VetVault® Backup Solution Works

 

Important: These steps are intended solely to help you follow along with your IDEXX Computer Systems support representative during the installation process. Please do not attempt to perform this procedure on your own as it can interfere with the proper execution of the IDEXX VetVault® Backup Solution service.

 

Here’s how it works:
  1. Installation: The VetVault Backup Solution software is installed on your clinic’s server. Your IDEXX Computer Systems support representative will download the current version of the IDEXX VetVault Agent—either the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version—to your server.

    Once this has been completed, your support representative will download the IDEXX VetVault® Central Control.

    Your support representative will then install and configure the software so your initial backup can be run and subsequent delta backups can follow.

  2. Seed Backup: An initial backup of your clinic's entire database is run.
  3. Daily Incremental Backup: Data that has been added or deleted since the last backup is collected and backed up.
