Real-time results at the push of a button
The ProCyte Dx® analyser takes work out of your hands and lets you get back to your patients and clients more quickly.
- Load-and-go operation: Even maintenance is push-button for increased staff productivity.
- Small sample size: The analyser requires only 30 µL of anticoagulated blood. And veterinary-specific IDEXX VetCollect® EDTA tubes require only 0.5–1.5 mL of blood to get the most accurate results for every patient.
- More species: Results are validated for five species (canine, feline, equine, bovine and ferret) across 24 different parameters.* Simple, intuitive flagging highlights questionable results, like clumped platelets or abnormal white blood cell patterns, to indicate the need for further investigation. Other species capabilities are available.
- Closed-tube sampling: There’s no sample preparation and less risk of contamination.
- 30-second return: Sample tube is returned in 30 seconds and available for further testing.
Smarter technology for better haematology
The ProCyte Dx® analyser employs three cutting-edge technologies to provide the most comprehensive complete blood count (CBC) available in-house.
Laser flow cytometry delivers an advanced five-part white blood cell differential. The ProCyte Dx® Haematology Analyser uses laser flow cytometry to perform a full analysis of multiple characteristics on each white blood cell, for the most accurate interpretation of all five white blood cell types. | Optical fluorescence provides a highly sensitive and accurate reticulocyte count with the use of specific fluorescent stains. Feline platelets are analysed with this method to ensure superior separation when delineating platelets and red blood cells of similar size. | Laminar Flow Impedance™ performs the fastest and most precise count of red blood cells for quick and accurate analysis. With advanced Laminar Flow Impedance technology, cells are lined up one by one to ensure each cell is characterised individually. |
| The process involves staining sample cells, directing laser light of 633 nm at each cell and collecting multiple angles of light scatter. Wavelengths of 660 nm and greater—denoted here in blue—are captured for very precise measurements of the cell’s nucleic content. Only the ProCyte Dx analyser offers this superior capability for highly sensitive and accurate analysis. | With advanced Laminar Flow Impedance technology, cells are lined up one by one to ensure each cell is characterised individually. |
Third-party study verifies exceptional correlation1
Recent studies comparing the ProCyte Dx analyser to the Advia® 120, the Cell-Dyn® 3700 and the Sysmex® XT-V showed unparalleled red blood cell count, haematocrit, reticulocyte count, platelet count and white blood cell count correlation.2 Results were shared at the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) forums of 2010 and 2011.
The accuracy of the ProCyte Dx analyser is demonstrated in the correlation data:

ProCyte Dx® Haematology Analyser Test Menu
The ProCyte Dx Haematology Analyser offers a full menu of haematology parameters and prints all your IDEXX VetLab® in-house analyser results in one comprehensive report. The report provides a complete picture of your patient's health status and facilitates face-to-face communication with clients.
Results are validated for five species (canine, feline, equine, bovine and ferret) across 24 different parameters. Simple, intuitive flagging highlights questionable results, like clumped platelets or abnormal white blood cell patterns, to indicate the need for further investigation. Other species capabilities are available.
| Parameter | Description |
| HCT (haematocrit) | With every report |
| RBC (red blood cell count) |
|
| HGB (haemoglobin) | With every report |
| RETIC , %RETIC (reticulocyte count, percentage of reticulocytes) | Reticulocytes are essential and the gold standard for characterising if an anaemia is regenerative or nonregenerative. |
| MCV (mean cell volume) | Serial measurement allows better monitoring of the progression/regression of a disease state. |
| RDW (red blood cell distribution width) |
|
| MCHC (mean cell haemoglobin concentration) | With every report |
| MCH (mean cell haemoglobin) | With every report |
| PLT (platelet count) | The ProCyte Dx analyser offers a much more accurate platelet count than impedance-only counters |
| MPV, PDW, PCT (mean platelet volume, platelet distribution width, platelet haematocrit) | Aid in the characterisation of a platelet abnormality (such as presence or absence of a bone marrow response to a peripheral demand for platelets) |
| WBC (white blood cell count) | With every report |
| Monocytes and Lymphocytes (% and #) |
|
| Neutrophils (% and #) | Important in identifying certain types of inflammatory disease and their severity, as well as following the progression or regression of inflammation |
| Eosinophils (% and #) |
|

Run a test in just three simple steps.
That’s it!
Haematology and chemistry results in just eight minutes.
The ProCyte Dx analyser’s two-minute run time complements the speed of the Catalyst Dx™ Chemistry Analyser. Now, in just eight minutes, you can run in-depth chemistry and haematology diagnostic panels.
Dot plotsDot plots are a visual representation of the complete blood count (CBC); each dot represents a single cell. Dot plots are a critical element of the CBC, providing a snapshot of cellular morphology. Only the ProCyte Dx Haematology Analyser and the LaserCyte® Haematology Analyser provide these valuable tools.
