Faster, more definitive diagnoses of equine respiratory disease

Identifying causative pathogens for respiratory disease is critical for determining treatments, implementing biosecurity protocols and managing the spread of disease.

With the IDEXX Equine Respiratory RealPCR Panel, veterinarians can now submit one sample to test for four respiratory diseases.

The new IDEXX Equine Respiratory RealPCR Panel consists of four real-time PCR tests:

• EHV-1 and EHV-4 RealPCR™ Tests
• S. equi RealPCR™ Test (includes culture ID)
• Equine Influenza Virus RealPCR™ Test
• Test Code: ERP

Sample requirements

1 sample, 4 results—Submit a single Dacron (plastic stemmed) nasal swab only (no wooden or cotton tipped swabs), one from each nostril, can be dry or moistened with <0.5mL lactated Ringers solution or buffered saline in plain tube.
Send with cold pack within 24 hours of collection.
For R.equi 5-10mL tracheal wash fluid in a sterile tube without preservatives; keep refrigerated and send with cold pack within 24 hours of collection

Turnaround times

Tests are performed daily in our Sacremento (US) facility, Monday–Friday. Please allow 7-10 days for results from date of submission.
