Graham Swinney, BVSc (Hons), DVCS, FACVSc (Canine Medicine) 

Specialist Canine Medicine and Internal Medicine Consultant
Graham graduated from the University of Sydney in 1987, after which he worked as an Assistant Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine at Massey University. He then undertook a Small Animal Medicine Residency at the University of Queensland in 1991.
In 1993 Graham assumed a role as a Registrar/Senior Registrar at the University of Sydney.
From 1999 to 2005 Graham was a Clinical Assistant Professor at Washington State University.
From 2005 to 2009 he was a staff specialist at the Veterinary Specialist Centre in Sydney, and in 2009 became a staff specialist at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney where he was also Hospital Director.
Graham joined IDEXX in 2011. He is a fellow of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, and is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association.
Graham has received the John Holt Distinguished Service Award from the ASAVA, and a Westcott Clinical Teaching Award at Washington State University.
Graham has interest in numerous aspects of small animal internal medicine including endocrinology, gastroenterology and nephrology.

Mark Carrigan BVSc (Hons), MACVSc, Dip ACVP 

Specialist Veterinary Pathologist, Chief Pathologist
After graduation from the University of Sydney in 1974, Mark was a clinical instructor at the University of Sydney 1975 to 1978, followed by two years in mixed and small-animal practice in England.
From 1981 to 1994, he worked as a pathologist at the NSW government's veterinary laboratory at Orange, during which time he also spent two years (1992 to 1994) as a staff pathologist at the University of California, Davis, USA. Mark joined IDEXX in 1995.
He is a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, and has authored over 25 scientific publications.
Mark's special interests include surgical pathology and the pathology of infectious diseases.
Susan Boyd, BVSc, CertSAM, MACVSc, Dip ACVP 

Specialist Veterinary Clinical Pathologist
After graduation from the University of Queensland in 1993, Susan spent several years in small animal practice in Australia and the United Kingdom, and achieved membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists and a Certificate in Small Animal Medicine.
In 2002 she commenced a residency in clinical pathology at The Royal Veterinary College in England, which was followed by a temporary lectureship there. She is a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (Clinical Pathology).
After working in a private diagnostic laboratory in the UK, Susan returned to Australia to join IDEXX in 2007.
Susan is interested in all facets of clinical pathology but has a special interest in haematology including avian and exotic species.
Martin Copland, BVSc (Hons), MACVSc 

Veterinary Clinical Pathologist
After graduation from the University of Sydney in 1966, Martin worked in mixed practice in Australia and the UK, in the foot-and-mouth disease eradication program in the UK, and later established a successful mixed practice in Western Australia.
From 1973-1977 he was Senior Lecturer at Massey University, New Zealand where his research interests included blood gas and acid-base balance and physiological aspects of pregnancy.
From 1977-1980 he was Regional Veterinary Officer with the South Australian Government, managing field and laboratory services in the South East, and from 1980-1994 he worked as a pathologist with the West Australian and South Australian Governments.
Martin worked for IDEXX from 1995-2008 and rejoined IDEXX in August 2011.
He is a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists and has authored over 16 scientific publications.
Martin’s special interests include clinical pathology, cytology and endocrinology of companion and production animals.
Natalie Courtman, BVSc (Hons), MVS, MACVSc (Pathology and Small Animal Medicine) 

Veterinary Clinical Pathologist
Natalie graduated from the University of Sydney in 1993 and spent 9 years working in small animal practices in Australia and England. During this time she completed a Masters degree in Veterinary Clinical Studies through Murdoch University and attained membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in small animal medicine.
In 2003 Natalie commenced a residency in clinical pathology at the Royal Veterinary College in London before returning to Australia in 2005 to a research support role at the Australian National University.
She joined IDEXX in April 2007, achieved membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Pathology in 2008 and is currently studying for ACVP board examinations in Clinical Pathology.
Linda Hayes, BVSc, Grad Dip Voc Ed. 

Veterinary Pathologist Diagnostician
After graduating from the University of Queensland in 1995, Linda worked in small animal practice in Australia and England from 1996 to 2002, and also taught veterinary nursing part-time at TAFE in Sydney for two years (2001-2002) after completing a graduate certificate in vocational education and training.
In 2003, she began a two-year internship in veterinary pathology at the University of Queensland. On completion Linda then began her PhD, which is currently in its final stages, investigating mutations in the c-kit gene in cutaneous mast cell tumours in dogs.
Between July 2008 and 2010, she also undertook a two year residency in Anatomic Pathology at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Linda joined IDEXX in 2011.
She is aiming to undertake the American board examinations in the next two years.
Linda's special interests include surgical pathology and oncology.
Karen Jackson, BVSc (Hons), MACVSc (Internal Medicine), Dip ACVP (Clinical Pathology) 

Veterinary Clinical Pathologist
After graduation from the University of Queensland in 2002, Karen was a veterinarian in a mixed animal practice in Victoria for 2 years. The subsequent year Karen completed a small animal rotating internship at Brisbane Veterinary Specialist Centre followed by a year in small animal practice in England.
Before moving to Philadelphia in the US, she passed the membership examination in small animal internal medicine. At the University of Pennsylvania Karen completed the Haematology and Transfusion Fellowship (2006-2007) and then a clinical pathology residency (2007-2010).
She stayed on for a year as a Lecturer in Clinical Pathology (2010-2011) while also passing the board examination to become a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in Clinical Pathology.
Karen's special interests include haematology (particularly bone marrow disease), immunohaematology, haemostasis, and cytology (particularly of oncologic disease).
Sue Jaensch, BSc (Hons), BVMS, PhD, MACVSc (Avian Medicine), FACVSc (Clinical Pathology) 

Specialist Veterinary Pathologist
After graduation from Murdoch University in 1992, Sue worked in mixed and small-animal practice for five years. She subsequently completed an honours degree and PhD evaluating aspects of avian anaesthesia.
Sue joined IDEXX in 2001. She is a fellow of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in clinical pathology, and a member in avian medicine.
Sue has authored over 20 scientific publications.
Sue's special interests include cytology, haematology and avian and exotic pet medicine.
Richard Miller, BVSc, MSc, PhD, MACVSc, Dip ACVP 

Specialist Veterinary Pathologist
After graduation from the University of Queensland in 1973, Richard worked in mixed practice for two years and then completed MSc and PhD degrees at James Cook University, studying bovine reproductive pathology and equine dermatoses and tropical fungal diseases respectively.
From 1981 to 1985, he was a lecturer in veterinary pathology at Louisiana State University, USA.
On his return to Australia in 1985, he established Veterinary Pathology Services in Brisbane (now IDEXX Laboratories) and has worked exclusively in diagnostic pathology. For 23 months from 2007 to 2008 Richard worked for IDEXX in our Wetherby (UK) laboratory.
Richard is a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and has authored over 40 scientific publications. Awards include the ACVSc College Prize in 1991 and an AVA Meritorious Service Award in 1995.
Other external contributions include membership of the NATA Advisory Committee for Veterinary Testing, 1997 - 2004.
Richard's special interests include fungal diseases, dermatopathology, avian diseases and surgical biopsies.
Richard Ploeg, BVSc, MACVSc, MPhil 

Veterinary Pathologist
After graduation from the University of Sydney in 1996, Richard worked in mixed and small-animal practice for two years. He was then a resident and later an associate lecturer in veterinary pathology and anatomy at the University of Queensland.
In 2002 he worked as a pathologist at the Queensland government's veterinary laboratory at Yeerongpilly. Richard joined IDEXX in 2002. He attained membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in 2004, and has completed a MPhil thesis on canine vascular neoplasia.
In 2009 Richard spent time working as a pathologist at Utrecht University in Holland.
Richard's special interests include comparative pathology, splenic pathology, dermatopathology and immunohistochemistry.
Neill Sullivan, BVSc, MVSc, PhD, FACVSc, Dip ACVP 

Specialist Veterinary Pathologist
After graduation from the University of Queensland in 1964, Neill worked as a pathologist at the Queensland government's veterinary laboratory at Yeerongpilly, and completed an MVSc degree for pioneering work on the identification of Leptospira hardjo infection in cattle.
Other research included the identification of Mycoplasma pneumonia as a cause of enzootic pneumonia in sheep.
He completed his PhD degree at the University of Melbourne, studying polioencephalomalacia in sheep.
From 1980 to 81, he was an associate professor of veterinary pathology at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. On his return to Australia, he was appointed senior lecturer in veterinary pathology at the University of Melbourne.
Neill joined IDEXX in 1992. He is a fellow of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in both anatomical pathology and clinical pathology, a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, and has authored over 40 scientific publications.
Neill's special interests include neuropathology.

Domenic Dell'Osa, BVSc (Hons), MSc MANZCVS (Veterinary Pharmacology) 

Medical Affairs Veterinarian
Domenic graduated from the Sydney University School of Veterinary Science in 1983 after which he joined a mixed animal practice on the mid north coast of NSW.
Upon returning to Sydney, he worked in small animal practice while completing a Masters of Science by research in pharmacology at the University of Sydney in 1987 and subsequently was accepted as a member by examination into the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, Chapter of Veterinary Pharmacology in 1990.
Since 1988 Domenic has held various positions within the animal health industry. In these roles, Domenic has been responsible for medical support, customer service and training, clinical studies, new product development and regulatory affairs in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia region.
Domenic has recently joined IDEXX to provide a medical resource and support to customers relating to all aspects of the IDEXX range of reference laboratory and in house diagnostics.
