Richard Miller

Veterinary Pathologist
After graduation from the University of
Queensland in 1973, Richard worked in mixed practice for two years and
then completed MSc and PhD degrees at James Cook University,
studying bovine reproductive pathology, equine dermatoses and
tropical fungal diseases. From 1981 to 1985, he was a lecturer in
veterinary pathology at Louisiana State University, USA. On his
return to Australia in 1985, he established Veterinary Pathology
Services in Brisbane (now IDEXX Laboratories). Richard is a member
of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, a diplomate of
the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, has authored
over 35 scientific publications, and is currently an adjunct
professor at the University of Queensland. Awards include the ACVSc
College Prize in 1991 and an AVA Meritorious Service Award in 1995.
Other external contributions include membership of the NATA Advisory
Committee for Veterinary Testing, 1997–2004. Richard's special
interests include fungal diseases, dermatopathology, avian diseases
and surgical biopsies.
